Scenario:

 

Who am I ?

 One by one, the tadpoles broke out of their eggs and swam away happily. All hatched but one. The others did not wait for it to hatch. They all left.It finally did hatch but it was all alone. There were no one else around. Taddy was confused and did not know what to do or where to go.A little fish swam by and Taddy asked "Who are you ?". The little fish replied "I am a fish." "Am I a fish too ?", asked Taddy. "No, you're not." said the fish and it swam away.Taddy saw more little fish swimming by the next few days but he now knows that they are not the same. He is not a fish.A tortoise swam by and Taddy quickly went to ask "Who are you ?". The tortoise replied "I am a tortoise." "Am I a tortoise too ?" asked Taddy. "No, you're not." said the tortoise as it swam away. Taddy was all alone again and still does not know who he is. Taddy noticed that something was growing out from his body and his tail was getting shorter. He was worried and did not understand the changes in his body. A few days later, that something grew into hands and legs and his tail was even shorter. Then, a newt passed by and Taddy noticed that it had hands, legs and a tail just like him. "Hmmm, we must be the same." he said to himself. He swam over to the newt and asked "Who are you ?". The newt replied "I am a newt." "Am I a newt too ? asked Taddy. "No, you're not a newt. Go away !" it snapped at Taddy. Taddy swam away, sad and lonely. "I am not a fish. I am not a tortoise. I am not a newt. Who or what am I ?" he thought to himself. Over the next few days, he saw only the fish, the tortoise and the newt. Nobody new to ask anymore. His tail is almost gone now. Taddy decided that he does not belong in the water anymore. He wants to go on the land to find out who or what he is. He swam up to the surface to take a peek of what was out there. The sun was shinning. It was bright. The sky was blue with fluffy cotton-like clouds. Taddy was amazed at this new world out of the water.He turned around and saw a frog on a lily-pad. It was busy catching an insect to eat. "This one really looks like me." thought Taddy to himself. "Excuse me, who are you ?" asked Taddy. "I am Croaky. I am a frog." it replied. "Am I a frog too ?" asked Taddy. "Sure, you are. We are the same" Croaky replied. Taddy was so happy that he found his own kind and know what he is now. "Why don't we both go meet up with Hoppy who is on the land now ?" said Croaky to Taddy. "I have been lonely and alone for a long time and would really love to make more friends." said Taddy. Croaky jumped into the water and both of them swam and hopped on to the land to meet Hoppy. Croaky introduced them and the three of them became good friends. Taddy was no longer alone and lonely. Taddy was a happy young frog.

1. List your personal understanding, ideas or hunches.

Now that you are familiar with the frog life cycle you will write everything you know about the frog life cycle. Describe your thoughts or ideas about how to solve the problem. There are not incorrect answers in this step, just feel free to brainstorm your ideas. 

 

2. List what is known.

With your team use all the information available in the scenario to list everything that you know about the frog life cylce. You do not have to conduct any research yet. Just use the information given and write the facts that you already know about the frog life cycle.

 

3. List what is unknown.

With your team, make a list about what you do not know and would like to learn. List all the questions you will need to answer to solve the problem.  
   

4. List what is unknown.

Prepare a list of questions that you think need to be answered to solve the problem.  Several types of questions may be appropriate.  Some may address concepts or principles that need to be learned in order to address the situation.  Other questions may be in the form of requests for more information.  These questions will guide research that may take place on the internet/WWW, in the library, or with other sources.
